A Cozy Guide to Cottagecore Furniture: Patterns and Textures
Top Content
One of the main drivers of the cottagecore aesthetic is the furniture so it’s essential that you don’t neglect this aspect of it. We have a list of furniture options and recommendations from our own store. Here are some of the categories to consider when choosing cottagecore furniture:
- Enhance your space with a variety of patters in rugs, throws, and pillows
- Choose muted and natural colors as primary with pastel accents
- Leave room for seasonal and holiday additions
Patterns
Accentuate the cottagecore feel of your home by looking into different patterns which enhance and add splashes of color to the space. Remember, you aren’t looking for clear-cut perfection, so it can be worth exploring options from charity shops, or even looking into the faded print aesthetic.
The best patterns for cottagecore furniture tend to be floral prints. Try to incorporate throws, pillow cases and even rugs that have a botanical feel. Ideally, you will want to look at wildflowers, or meadow scenes.
For tables, if you want to have a table cover, try to get one that is made from fabric (no plastic) that also has the floral, pastel theme. Check out our floral pink table throw as inspiration. Or why not look into a table cloth that has a gingham pattern? That can work in both the living room, the kitchen and the bedroom.
Patchwork throws are also a great way to add a touch of cottage chic to your sofa, your bed or your pillows. They can be self-made, which is even better, or look at our patchwork throws at the Antique Farmhouse, if you aren’t too handy with quilting.

Colors
When looking at the patterns and textures for your cottagecore theme, you will have likely noticed a theme with the colors in the prints and the baskets. They tend to be somewhat muted, natural hues, with pastels and creams being the underlying colors. If you can, extend this through your home with cream or white walls, painted floors as well as furniture and throws that are also pastels or creams.
With pillowcases in your living room, you can explore a splash of pastels to accentuate the cottage theme, so try pastel yellow, pink, blue or green, to see which one feels right in the space. Try to select a different color if you are adding a throw to your sofa, as too much uniformity can look modern and crash the cottage look.
For furniture in your home, such as tables, chairs, and bed frames, try to go for a natural exposed wood. This will add those oh-so-important natural tones to the space and will also contrast nicely with any pastels or gingham prints or throws that you use.

Seasonal and Layering
Seasonal layering is a core part of cottagecore, and can help to protect furniture and enhance the space at the same time. Try to choose mixed textures for winter months, such as wool throws with cotton throws underneath, especially on beds and sofas. Both will keep you warm and will look great at the same time.
In summer months, you can still use layering throughout your home, but aim for covers or throws made from thinner materials, like cotton and linen, with softer, delicate floral prints. This will create an eye-catching addition to your living room, and will also help to spread the cottage feel throughout your home. Best of all, we have a huge selection of cotton and linen sofa throws at the Antique Farmhouse, so feel free to browse through them to get some inspiration.
Not really furniture-related, but another texture to consider in your cottage-themed home is that of dried flowers and green plants. You can place the pots in wicker pot holders, or even go for fully wooden pots, to keep the natural vibe going, while also adding texture to the space.
