Achieving the cottagecore color palette isn’t hard to do, but it is very specific. Anything that doesn’t add to the rustic charm should be removed. Here are a few characteristics of the cottagecore style in the color palette:
- Base Tones
- Base tones should be neutral so that you can add a variety of accent colors on top of it. Instead of gray, think cream colors.
- Muted Colors
- You can choose complimentary colors, just make sure they’re muted and not saturated to capture that old cottage look.
- Patterns
- One of the hallmarks of cottagecore style is the use of muted colors in patterns for more diversity.
- Inspired by Nature
- Floral patterns and earth tones like sage green, lavender, rose, brown, olive green, and more.
- Colors to Avoid
- If it doesn’t whisper rustic getaway, then it’s time to remove. Anything neon, highly saturated, or stark whites don’t help to achieve cottagecore.
